Sowing and Reaping (3)
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature, will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Galatians 6:7, 8

I always find it very interesting to watch the process of farming through a year. In the spring the farmer prepares the fields and sows the seed. Then there follows the months of growth during summer until harvest day comes when the crops are reaped, threshed and sent to market.

Shaken not stirred.
“Surely he will never be shaken, a righteous man will be remembered forever” Psalm 112:6
Do you remember the James Bond films and the trademark catch phrase “Shaken, not stirred” which referred to Bond’s preference for how he wanted his martini prepared? Since then, the phrase has become recognisable in western popular culture, and has appeared in many films, television programs and video games.

Neglected
“Do not neglect the gift that is in you” 1 Tim 4:14
While walking on the Sussex Downs recently I passed this car in an overgrown garden. It’s been there quite a while. The last time it was licensed was in early 2007.

Serving Jesus (3).
Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ. Col 1:7
We have been looking at some aspects of service and ministry, and as we look again at this verse from Colossians we see in it the focus that we as believers should have. It is Jesus Christ. We do not serve ourselves, our neighbour, an organisation, or even the church. The writer of the book of Hebrews put it like this “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith who for the joy set before him endured the cross...” Hebrews 12:2.

Serving Jesus (2).
Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ. Col 1:7
Our last study focussed on the words servant and minister and our duty to serve Jesus Christ. But we need to revisit a very important principle that has caused much misunderstanding not only to Christians but to others as well.
