Welcome

Welcome to the City Partnership

The City Partnership is a mission organisation committed to reaching and discipling business people with the gospel for the glory of God and the good of the local church. We believe that God speaks to men and women through His Word and therefore Bible teaching should be at the centre of everything we do.

Weekly Meetings

Weekly Meetings

The core of the ministry is our weekly meetings, when businessmen and women gather during the lunch hour to study the Word of God and discuss its impact on their lives. To find out more about these meetings and where they take place, have a look at our Weekly Meetings page. You can download the study notes for these sessions from theWeekly Studies page.

Other Ministries

While the weekly lunchtime meetings are the core of the City Partnership, we also run various other ministries. For those seeking to grow in their relationship with Jesus, the Building on the Rock weekends offer a unique opportunity to discover what it means to be "in Christ", through gospel application to pain and sin. The "Reading Right" ministry enables Christians to study the classics in Christian literature in weekly study groups.

 Our Surprising Surrender John 6:41-59

If someone were to ask you, “How does a person become a Christian and remain a Christian?” I wonder what you would say.

The Bread of Life John 6:25-40

In this series we have been discovering what the Bible means when it describes Jesus as the Son of God. And one of the reasons that John’s Gospel is such a good place to concentrate our investigation is because John is the only one of the Gospel writers who records for us seven particular statements of Jesus beginning with the words, “I am.”

Secure through the storm  John 6:14-24

Last week we discovered a pattern in John’s writing. We saw that he likes to record one of Jesus’ miracles or “signs” and then give us the explanation so that we understand what the sign is pointing to. Last week we were looking at the most famous miracle in the New Testament, the feeding of the five thousand, and now this week we are expecting to discover exactly what that is all about.

The perfect sufficiency of Jesus

We started the year by thinking about the way in which much contemporary Christianity has made God weightless. That does not mean that people are not interested in spiritual things – quite the reverse. There is a greater interest in spirituality today both inside and outside the church than there has been for several generations.

Can good people go to hell? John 5:31-47

John wants us to know that Jesus is the Son of God because if we believe that, if we base our lives on that, then Jesus will plant the seed of new life in us, starting now and stretching on into eternity. That is John’s message and put like that, it is so simple, so uncomplicated that even a child can get hold of it.

What Jesus will do Tomorrow John 5:24-30

In our present series we are discovering what it means for Jesus to be the Son of God. And the passage from v.16-30 is the most condensed and rich passage on the subject in John’s Gospel. So we are looking at this short passage in two sessions, last week and this.

Ask any child in Sunday School and they will be able to tell you that the Easter weekend is the most important weekend in the Christian calendar as believers meet to remember the historical events of Jesus death on the Cross on the first Good Friday and His resurrection from death to eternal life on the first Easter Sunday. In most churches most believers will have some understanding about what happened and what it means for us. These are historical events with eternal significance.

Like Father Like Son: Study 2

In our series in John's Gospel, we are looking at the different ways in which Jesus does things which only God can do. And to help us, we are taking John’s words in chapter 20:30,31 as the key to understanding his message. I've put it on the inside of the sheet and I will read it to you again.

"Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name."

Like Father Like Son: Study 1

Today we are beginning a new series called "Like Father like Son". With our recent series on the Majesty of God still fresh in our minds, our purpose is to try to find out what the Bible means when it talks about Jesus being the Son of God. That’s a phrase we are very familiar with but do we know what it means? And more important, do we know what it means to have faith in Him? With Easter only a few weeks away, this is a great opportunity for you to invite friends and colleagues to come and take this journey with us and I do want to urge you to do that.

The Majesty of God: Study 8

We are almost at the end of our journey. We began our series by asking why far too many Christians have made God weightless in their lives. And I have been suggesting that the main reason is because they don’t really know who God is. They may have been going to church since they were infants and they know about God, but along the way, they have never been truly overwhelmed by a sense of the awesome majesty of God.
